MAYHEM Guide

Game Guide

Everything you need to step into the arena: how a match plays out, how fighters work, what you stake, and why the result is always fair. Use the sidebar to jump to any topic.

What MAYHEM Is

MAYHEM is an onchain 1v1 card battle game. You stake $MAYHEM, pick a fighter, and battle another player across a best of three match. Win and you take the pot. Everything that touches money settles on-chain, so payouts are automatic and nobody can stiff you.

There are no NFTs and no grinding. You connect a wallet, find a match at your stake level, and play. A full match takes a few minutes.

Connect Your Wallet

Sign in with your wallet. Your wallet address is your account. There is no email and no password.

You need $MAYHEM to play. Your balance shows in the top right of the header once you connect, so make sure you hold at least the entry for the tier you want.

  • Connect through the wallet button in the header. Standard wallets are supported on each chain.
  • Your stake is held in an on-chain escrow for the match, then paid out when it ends.
  • You keep custody of your funds until you choose a tier and confirm the deposit.

Your First Match

Open the lobby and choose a wager tier. The server pairs you with another player staking the same amount, so every match is even money.

  • Pick your fighter on the character screen. Each one plays differently.
  • Confirm your stake. Both players deposit before the fight starts.
  • Play the match. First to win two rounds takes the pot.
  • The winner is paid out automatically. No claim step, no waiting on the other player.

Match Format

A match is best of three rounds. The first fighter to win two rounds wins the match and the pot.

Both fighters start every round at 100 HP. Drop your opponent to 0 to take the round outright. If 90 seconds pass with nobody knocked out, the fighter with more HP wins the round on the clock.

How a Turn Works

You draw a fresh hand of five cards at the start of each round. Every turn, both fighters secretly pick one card and reveal at the same time. Nobody goes first. You are reading your opponent as much as playing your own cards.

Cards cost energy. You get a fixed energy budget each round set by your fighter HUSTLE stat, so you cannot just spam your most expensive card. Spend it where it counts.

  • Both picks reveal together, then resolve at the same time.
  • A turn timer keeps the match moving. Let it run out and a card is played for you.
  • Energy refreshes at the start of each new round.

Card Types

Every card falls into one of four kinds.

TypeWhat it does
StrikeDeals damage
GuardBlocks or reflects incoming damage
HealRestores some of your HP
SpecialBends the rules: nullify, reverse, poison, and more

Reading the type your opponent is likely to play is the whole game. A Guard is wasted if they heal, and a big Strike is wasted into a reflect.

Choosing a Fighter

There are ten fighters. They all share the same base deck, but each one layers its own kit on top, so picking a fighter is really picking a playstyle.

  • Passive: always on, no input needed.
  • Combat Perk: fires automatically when its condition is met, usually once per match.
  • Signature Move: a once per match effect you declare before a round.
  • Exclusive Card: one unique card only that fighter can draw, and it shows up at least once per match.

Fighter Stats

Each fighter is rated one to five stars in four stats. Three stars is the baseline, and every star above or below it shifts the numbers.

StatEffect
POWERAttack damage. Each star above three adds 5 percent, each below subtracts 5 percent.
IRONDefense. Each star above three absorbs 5 percent more, each below 5 percent less.
HUSTLEEnergy per round. Low gives 3, three stars gives 4, high gives 5.
GRITSelf damage on risky cards. Higher grit takes less, lower grit takes more.

Signature Cards

Beyond the base deck, every fighter has a signature card that hits harder than anything else they can draw. It is rare on purpose. You will not see it every match, and when you do it shows up only once. When it lands in your hand, make it count.

Wager Tiers

Pick the stake you are comfortable with. You are only ever matched against someone staking the same amount, so the pot is always even.

TierEntry and typical wait
Baby100 $MAYHEM, about 10 seconds
Mid500 $MAYHEM, about 30 seconds
Degen2,500 $MAYHEM, about 1 minute
Whale10,000 $MAYHEM, about 2 minutes

Payouts and Fees

Both stakes go into the pot. The winner takes the pot minus a 5 percent house fee. At the Mid tier, two players stake 500 each for a 1,000 pot, and the winner walks away with 950.

That 5 percent is not just a cut for the house. It funds a community prize pool that rewards players every week and every season, so a slice of every match flows back to the people who show up and play.

Payout settles on-chain the moment the match ends. There is no claim button and no waiting on your opponent to agree.

Forfeits and Disconnects

Leaving or refreshing during a live match forfeits it. Your opponent is awarded the win and the pot, minus the house fee, the same as any other result.

That is why the battle screen warns you before you go. If your connection drops, the server gives you a short window to reconnect before the match is called.

Provably Fair

You never have to trust your opponent or take the result on faith. The server runs the match logic, signs the outcome, and the contract only pays out on a valid signature. Neither player can fake a win or report their own result.

Card draws are seeded so the same match always resolves the same way, and both players see the identical board. There is no hidden edge in who connected first.

Your Funds

Your stake lives in an on-chain escrow for the length of the match and nowhere else. MAYHEM never holds your keys and cannot move funds outside the rules of the match.

  • Non custodial: you sign every deposit yourself.
  • The contract only pays the winner, minus the fixed fee. There is no admin drain.
  • On-chain history is public and permanent, so every payout can be audited.
